Healthcare Insurance Reform means – Blue Shield CA Raises Rates 40%

I’m a fan of Obama, but his new plan (so far) doesn’t seem to be working. To quote our President, “…this new bill will make healthcare more affordable… for small businesses, for families…”

Uh, our small business just got a letter from Blue Shield the other week saying it was “significantly raising rates…” We got a bill that is about 40% more for each employee. And it seems that we’re not the only ones Blue Shield of CA is raising prices on.

Mr. President – come on! When all healthcare insurance companies have to do to skirt your bill is to raise our rates by 40% – duuuude, your plain ain’t worky!

* Can we have the old broken way back please? At least it was cheaper then…

Blue Shield of CA raises Rates

Affordable? NO!

Copyright issues from using templated websites

Recently I got a series of threatening emails from the President of a templated dentist website company claiming DoctorBase had violated his copyright laws. Being as he sells templated websites to dentists with a “SEO” package added on, he demanded to know why we were hosting a blog for one of his dentists with content which he owned.

Here’s the problem – this dentist (who also had bought a templated website from this guy in the past) was frustrated with his web marketing (or lack thereof) and came to DoctorBase to have his own interactive blog. Our team of bloggers took pictures from his website (which said “Copyright Dr. ______”) and placed them on his blog as was requested by the dental office of Dr. _____ who thought they owned all of the website contents.

This President of this template website company (they don’t list an address or other employees) may not have told his customers that he claims certain parts of the website as his content. Or maybe he does, and his dental customers don’t care or understand exactly what they don’t get with a templated website.
