Not sure what it is about old Asian guys like Robert Kiyosaki (now) or Tom Vu (80′s) promising to teach people how to “get rich,” but it’s always funny. Well, if you don’t count the thousands of people who come to their “life changing seminars” only to find the only life changing thing that happened was that they became $900 poorer.
What DoctorBase software offers is transparency into what real patients are saying. We weed out the spam reviews and suspected false reviews – but we do NOT remove reviews or deprecate reviews from patients who have:
- responded to our initial query for verification OR
- validated by panda software (patient doctor analytics) OR
- validated by human beings, editors, and even the office staff who can identify that patient.
There are PLENTY of other websites offering appointment reminder software that will allow dentists and doctors to remove any negative reviews on their profile page they don’t like.
WE DON’T DO THAT. If more doctors understood how social media really works, they would realize that having 100% positive reviews looks odd, and that having such an “astro-turfed” profile actually hurtstheir reputation.
On DoctorBase, if you have a good reputation offline, we can grow that great rep online through Google Local, Facebook, and Twitter. If you have a bad reputation, that will also grow online.
Such is the transformative power of Web 2.0. Doctors who ignore their reputation online or try and silence websites or patients into silence – or engage in astro-turfing behavior stand to lose a LOT as the web continues to transform. And it will happen a lot quicker than most think.
This patient verified her review. Dentist was not happy with us!!
Compare that to:
This dentist in SF is LOVED by patients - regardless of whether a negative review or two might appear, there's plenty of happy patients who sing his praises. And because of that, not only is he one of the most popular cosmetic dentists in the city, but he is also one of the most trusted.
I grew up in beautiful Manhattan Beach, CA. My immigrant parents were small business owners and taught me a lot about being entrepreneurial and community focused. I went on to study Chemistry and Technical Writing at Penn State, UC Berkeley and the University of Memphis - go lions, bears and tigers!
While working at a Fortune 500 company's call center I had an idea which I later turned into Five9. While the idea was easy to dream up, it was the brilliant engineers and managers that made that company the market leader it is today.
The "Eureka moment" came again and we started DoctorBase to help doctors communicate with patients through smart-phones and social media. Without funding, we've become one of the fastest growing Health 2.0 companies servicing thousands of doctors and millions of patients.
In 2011, a fascinating IPv6 software company 6connect asked me to become a co-founder, and we raised financing from my previous VCs at Hummer Winblad who had funded me previously at Five9.
Every day in startups seem like a struggle, but I've come to learn to enjoy being in the race and not stress about the finish line, and to be thankful for the co-workers, investors and customers who have allowed me to make a living doing what I absolutely love -
