I grew up in beautiful Manhattan Beach, CA. My immigrant parents were small business owners and taught me a lot about being entrepreneurial and community focused. I went on to study Chemistry and Technical Writing at Penn State, UC Berkeley and the University of Memphis - go lions, bears and tigers!
While working at a Fortune 500 company's call center I had an idea which I later turned into Five9. While the idea was easy to dream up, it was the brilliant engineers and managers that made that company the market leader it is today.
The "Eureka moment" came again and we started DoctorBase to help doctors communicate with patients through smart-phones and social media. Without funding, we've become one of the fastest growing Health 2.0 companies servicing thousands of doctors and millions of patients.
In 2011, a fascinating IPv6 software company 6connect asked me to become a co-founder, and we raised financing from my previous VCs at Hummer Winblad who had funded me previously at Five9.
Every day in startups seem like a struggle, but I've come to learn to enjoy being in the race and not stress about the finish line, and to be thankful for the co-workers, investors and customers who have allowed me to make a living doing what I absolutely love -
